Ostrich Steak Burgers With Beet Tzatziki and Spicy Potatoes

Ostrich Steak Burgers With Beet Tzatziki and Spicy Potatoes

Ingredients

For 4 people

  • 500 grams Klein Karoo Ostrich Steak Burgers
  • 15 mL Olive Oil
  • 2 medium cooked or grilled beets, coarsley grated
  • 1 pinch(es) salt
  • 15 mL chopped mint leaves
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 125 mL plain yoghurt
  • 5 mL vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 kilo(s) potatoes, cut into wedges
  • 125 mL finely chopped coriander
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2.5 mL chili powder
  • 0 juice of half a lemon

Directions

Method:

  1. Brush steak burgers with olive oil.
  2. Grill in hot griddle pan or braai on grid over moderately hot coals until nicely browned.
  3. Keep warm.

For the Beet Tzatziki:

  • 2 medium sized cooked or grilled beets, coarsely grated
  • a pinch of salt 
  • 15ml chopped mint leaves
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 125ml plain yoghurt

Method:

Mix the ingredients and serve on the steak burger.

For the Spicy Potatoes

Please note: These quantities will vary accordingly if you adjust the number of people to be served in the ingredients section above.

  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1kg potatoes, cut into wedges
  • 125ml finely chopped coriander
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2.5ml chili powder
  • Juice of half a lemon

Method:

  1. Deep fry potatoes and season.
  2. Mix coriander, chili powder and garlic together.
  3. Place 15ml vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and cook coriander mix for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add fried potatoes and lemon juice, and toss to combine.
